Hi friends,
Thank you so much for backing SHASN and helping kickstart our journey as game designers and publishers. It has been deeply fulfilling to watch you engage with our ideas, writing, and political intent. With SHASN, we wanted to deconstruct our current political systems to see what we’re up against. In the next step of SHASN’s journey, we want to take a closer look at how we got here.
*Drumroll, please.*
Introducing SHASN: AZADI - a semi-cooperative deep dive into freedom struggles where players can relive and rewrite histories. You are revolutionaries, trying to free your country from the grips of a tyrannical imperial power. You must all work together to build your revolution’s momentum and gain AZADI - your fucking birthright. Once you do, if you do, it’s SHASN as usual - only one of you will lead the liberated nation.
AZADI shifts the focus of the colonial and imperial narratives from the “glorious” conqueror to the conquered, from the “brave” explorers to the natives.

We’re removing questions that are no longer relevant while adding new ones, updating your 2019-20 decks to 2021-22 decks. Tabletop games are a powerful medium. They create personal, interactive and intimate social spaces that allow players to live through a shared experience. However, a lot of modern tabletop games perpetuate narratives that are unhealthy, regressive and myopic. We need to look at tabletop games with the same lens that we afford to films, video games, and other media formats. Every story we create and consume alters our zeitgeist, beliefs, and culture.
It is the shared responsibility of both creators and consumers to curate and support media that pushes our culture in a more inclusive, empowering, and enlightening direction. Recently, there’s been some more buzz about this in the industry. In case you missed it:

A Much Needed Thank You
This is what SHASN looked like three years ago. Today, most of you have the final copy of the game. I want to thank you all for the incredible response so far. I am delighted to know that so many of you appreciate the production quality of the game, and have had fun playing it too.
Being a first time creator from India, I could not imagine how big SHASN would go on to become, and how many people across the world would back us. From our first playtests in Mumbai, to winning the social impact award at IndieCade, we have come a long way. It’s only been possible because of your love and support.
And I need your help to make SHASN bigger. At this stage of the game’s release, we need as much visibility as possible. So, I request all of you to review the game on BGG, and share images and moments from the game on your social media profiles. I would love to hear your thoughts.
I would love to share SHASN with more people. So, if think of any content creators, political commentators, or journalists who would enjoy SHASN, please let me know. I would love to begin a conversation with them.

A Token Of My Appreciation
SHASN is a game that captures a moment in history. At the same time, it also attempts to reflect the current state of the world around us. This is why I am planning to create update decks for SHASN for you, all our original SHASN backers. This deck will allow you to swap out some of the old cards in the India, USA, and Brexit decks for the new ones - turning the 2019-20 deck to a 2021-22 deck. I plan on creating these decks along with our next kickstarter for ~1-2 $.
I would love to join you and your friends as you play SHASN, virtually of course. I can introduce the game, answer questions, and add fuel to some of your politicking. You can sign up for sessions with me on Calendly, but first - let me know what time suits you (and your time zone) in the comments section. SHASN add-ons
Did you miss out on some SHASN add-ons? Our backers in India, USA, Canada, and Mexico will be able to place their orders on buyshasn.com soon. We hope to introduce retail to more countries in the near future.
Shipping Update
SHASN has begun shipping in Canada, and some backers have already received their copies. Shipments by VFI to UAE, Israel, Kuwait, Malaysia, and South Korea are still being processed. We are working towards getting the game to you ASAP.

Hi,
I'm delighted to let you know that SHASN has already reached our backers across Asia. Meanwhile, backers in Australia, Europe, and USA have already begun receiving their copies. SHASN should reach the rest of you by this week or early next week.
However, there has been a slight hiccup with deliveries in UAE and Israel. VFI could not ship out copies to these countries before the commencement of Chinese New Year holidays, because of which they will receive their copies a bit later than everyone else.
Please note that if you ordered both the add-ons, you will find them packaged within the same box as the core game. The presidential BUNDLE SKU includes the Presidential edition + both add-ons.
A lot of you have reached out wanting to design campaigns for your own countries and favorite fandoms. We have uploaded an asset-kit on our website to help you do the same. We look forward to seeing what you create!

Hi,
I’m sure by now you’ve heard from our backers in Hong Kong and India who’ve begun receiving their copies of SHASN. We hope you’ve managed to play a few games, and we’d love it if you could share photos with us on our social media pages.
I understand that a lot of you are anxious about SHASN’s delivery. We’ve been working our hardest to bring you the game on time. Thank you for your patience so far.
Unfortunately, there was an unforeseen 2 week delay for our ships headed towards the US, England, and EU, that neither we nor our shipping partners could have predicted. That being said, the ships carrying the games have reached the US, UK, and Australia (the shipment to D6 is on a train on the way to Chicago). You should receive an email and a text from our delivery partners as soon as they generate the labels.
I am sorry for having faltered in getting a firm grasp of the final logistics of getting the game to you. There is a lot that I have learnt about contingencies and traffic that I wish I had planned better for.
Your support on SHASN means a lot to me and everyone in my team has been working tirelessly to give you the best possible experience. We’re really happy with how the final product has turned out, and we can’t wait for you - our very first backers, to get your hands on SHASN.

A Happy New Year to you all!
We’re delighted to announce that our Asian backers will get their games next week. Meanwhile, we will receive the shipment in India by next week, and our Indian backers can expect the game in the week after that. Our backers across the world should get their copies by the end of this month.
We have also created content to make your gameplay experience more fruitful, including:
- A new How-to-Play video.
- A privilege tracker that will serve as an optional tiebreaker.
- An explainer for all headlines and conspiracies in the game.
We will be sharing the content here and on BoardGameGeek very soon.
